Catch up...

I know it has been a while, so let's get up to date. A few weeks ago Jonathan and me went to a baseball game, I have noticed that when we do go to baseball games all we really do is eat. Well that is what we did at the last one, it was fun though. We entertain each other very well. Ummm... Jonathan finished his first two classes and he made an "A" in both classes! I am so proud of him, he has not been giving himself enough credit, he studies more than I do. He is doing great! What else... we have been house hunting, we are looking to buy a home in the same area that Jonathan lives in now, I know that Josh is not excited about the area, but we like it. I grew up in that particular part of Dallas, so it feels like home to me. We have found a cute little home that we both love! We have met the owner and she is working with us and hopefully it will soon be ours. We have not been doing too much, so I think we are up to date. Jonathan has started two more classes and I am studying as well. Awww... I was trying to put some pictures in this but my camera battery is very low. I will post some later.

What a life...

Today I am most grateful for my life and the people in it, and the people I have even come in contact with today. As you all know I am a nurse and work for a busy clinic, I work in the Internal Medicine department of this clinic, so I am blessed with adult and elderly patients. Today for the first time I met three very interesting and wonderful patients, one of which was there with his significant other of many, many years. I will start from the beginning... I was doing my usual at work, making calls, answering calls, and running back and forth between patients. I had just hung up with a very upset patient, who sort of made me feel bad, but oh well... anyway, I went to get our next patient to bring them back into the exam room. I saw her sitting by herself just smiling, I walked up to her called her name and this tiny, little, elderly woman stands up looks me in the eye and says... I am going to hug you, I hope you don't mind. I just feel like I need to. She was sooo sweet, she takes my arm and I walk her down the hall to her room. As we walked to the room she just went on about how proud she was of her grand daughter Lisa, she just put a smile on my face. The next couple that I met, they were not actually my patients but they were just so pleasant I could not help but to talk to them. The husband had big bandages on his head and his wife would just cling to his hand and comfort him. The wife was telling me what had happened to her husband and he just sat and smiled, after she was done telling me the story he said " And after all of that hassle, and surgery, and these things on my face, she still loves me." It was so nice and heart warming to see two people still so in-love, they both showed and expressed their love for each other after so much stress. I thought to myself, that is what I want with Jonathan. I want to, and am going to love him no matter what! He will always know how special and how wonderful he is in my eyes. I was grateful to see and witness a wonderful, true love. The last patient... when I was walking down the hall to greet him I heard lots of talking and laughing, when I got to the reception area the gentleman was talking to everyone around him. He was in a wheelchair and enjoyed being able to scoot himself around. After talking with this man for a few minutes I knew he was a special person. He told me about his time in the war and of his wife that had passed. Then I was informed that this man was a local hero, I was given a magazine. The gentleman had told his story to a local magazine and they printed an issue in his honor. He had such a great outlook on life and all that he had experienced. I am sooo happy that I was able to slow down and actually pay attention to these people, I know a lot of the time I just fly through the day and know nothing personal about anyone that I have talked to that day because I am just to busy to pay attention. I am just glad that today was not one of those days... yes it was busy, but I still recognized these people and the stories they had. These are the people and moments that run in out of my life but they teach me to slow down and love, and to be grateful, to be happy, and to keep on going.

Sooo tired...

It was such a long night last night. Yesterday me and my mom when for our evening power walk, afterwards we stopped by the grocery store to pick up a few things. So we almost finished at the store and my mom gets a phone call, I can tell in her voice that something is up. So she turns to me and says, Uh we've got to go pick up you brother and tells me the location. We went to go pick him up no more than two miles from where we were, we pull up to the entrance to the local shopping center and my Brother Steven and his friend Ricardo are sitting on the floor with their backs against a concrete embankment. As I get closer to my brother I can see that he had an accident and fell off of his bike, then my eyes were pulled to his right collar bone, I can see through his shirt that something is a raised, well his whole right shoulder was raised, but nothing had broken through the skin. Steven is smiling and joking around trying to not think about the pain his shoulder is giving him. I told him that he was going to have to go to the ER, he of course was not thrilled about that at all. He immediately told me " Don't tell me what it looks like Lisa. I don't want to know." So mom and me took Steven to the ER where we waited for seven very long hours, and it was freezing in there. Well it turns out that my little bro has an AC separation, very painful, now he has to go see and orthopedic doctor for further evaluation. So we got home after four this morning, so I went into work very late and it was crazy there too. But I had some of our regular and very sweet patients today, so all and all it was all okay.
